Last night I was given the WONDERFUL opportunity to see one of Chris and I's favorite Country singers, Robert Earl Keen (REK)! A BIG THANK YOU to Leslee for getting us the hook up and more importantly, on THE list! Yes, that's right we were on Robert Earl Keen's guest list and yes, we have proof (above), hahaha. TOTALLY RULED! Great concert!
REK has some new songs that the band played last night and ironically enough a few of the new tunes had a country/jam band-ish tune to them... Closet Hippie aka Lt. Parks will be super excited to hear! Seriously though, their new songs are really good, check them out.
Sadly, REK is not allowed to take photos with fans any more (lame publicity politics), BUT I was successful in getting yet another koozie signed for Chris! Side Note: Last year, when Chris was in Iraq I saw REK at 9:30 club. The Band and Mr. Keen himself signed a koozie for Chris saying, "Come home safe." Of course, I had to have them do it again (which they were more than happy to do! No picture this time, but I did get a high five and thank you from REK himself! Ahhhh the little things in life.
Feelin' Good Again is one of our favorite REK songs and ironically enough became the "theme" if you will of the past couple of days (it was also the first song they played last night). On Monday and over the weekend I managed to miss a call from a weird number (100000000). Naturally, I assumed it was Chris =(.
At exactly 10:00 pm tonight, my phone rang and sure enough it was the weird number again. Excitedly, I answered and said, "hello!" Delay on the other end..., "hello?!?" I giggled because of course the delay made me even more excited that it might be him... then finally, "Hi Ms. Courtman this is "x" from the RNC..." we want a donation. Hahahaha - GO FIGURE!
As disappointing as it was that it was not Chris, the good news is - I never actually missed calls from him =) - Feels So Good, Feelin' Good Again! (not the best version of the song, but you get the picture)
